Our client is looking for a skilled Trailer Welder Repairer to join their team. This role is focused on welding and repairing commercial trailers, ensuring that they are structurally sound and compliant with safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have expertise in welding techniques, trailer repairs, and a solid understanding of trailer systems, including structural components, suspension, and braking systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Welding and Fabrication:
Perform welding repairs on damaged trailer frames, chassis, and structural components.
Utilize various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and Stick welding to restore trailers to their original condition.
Fabricate custom parts or components for trailers, ensuring precise measurements and proper fitment.
Cut, shape, and join metal components to repair or modify trailers as needed.
Trailer Repairs:
Inspect trailers for damage or wear and determine the most appropriate welding and repair techniques.
Repair and reinforce trailer frames and body parts by welding cracked, bent, or broken components.
Repair or replace parts like suspension systems, axles, and landing gear as necessary, using welding to reattach or strengthen parts.
Address issues related to the trailer’s structural integrity and safety features, including crossmembers, side rails, and floor supports.
Structural Integrity and Safety Compliance:
Ensure that all welded repairs meet safety and quality standards, maintaining the structural integrity of trailers.
Conduct post-repair inspections to verify that repairs have restored the trailer’s strength and functionality.
Ensure that all repairs comply with relevant safety regulations.
Perform routine checks on completed welds to confirm that they are strong, uniform, and safe for operation.
Preventive Maintenance and Upkeep:
Perform maintenance and repair work on trailers to prevent future structural damage.
Apply preventative measures to high-stress areas of trailers to enhance durability and reduce wear.
Maintain thorough records of all welding and repair activities, including the parts used and time spent.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a welder, particularly with trailer welding and repair.
Expertise in welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals for trailer repairs.
Familiarity with safety regulations
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team, completing projects efficiently.
Good communication skills for working with customers and other team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
Welding certification
Previous work experience with structural repairs and fabrication.
Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in trailers.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift and move heavy parts
Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and kneeling during repair work.
