The Trading Standards Team at Barking and Dagenham is part of a larger group of Regulatory Services within the Law and Governance Directorate. Our small and dynamic team is located centrally at Barking Town Hall close to Barking Town Centre with excellent transport connections. We are looking for a highly enthusiastic Trading Standards Apprentice who has all of the key behaviours expected from our organisation and who is capable of completing the Level 6 qualification within four years. This position requires a commitment and passion for Trading Standards work. The successful candidate will have outstanding problem solving and effective communication skills. The candidate will be required to work with stakeholders and colleagues across the authority to secure the best outcomes for residents. As part of this role, you will be required to job-share with London Borough of Havering on two days a week and one day used for studying and attended courses. You will play a key role in helping us achieve our ambitions for The Borough and our residents and businesses.

You will be a flexible, creative and enthusiastic team player with excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to your daily duties to get them completed as efficiently as possible. You will have a general understanding of Trading Standards legislation of emerging issues and developments in the field.
