Winthrop Gardens - Temporary Assistant Organiser
Salary Scale LC1 (7-12) £26,403 - £28,598; pro-rata
Plus contributory pension scheme
Part-time temporary contract to 31/03/2025 (potential to become permanent)
650 hours per annum, averaging 12.5 hours per week
Winthrop Gardens is a volunteer-led community gardens and café which has been owned and operated by Wickersley Parish Council for nearly ten years. We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic person with bags of energy to work with our Organiser in supporting this continually developing, successful and popular local community facility and its ethos of health and well-being.
The post is 650 hours per annum, averaging 12.5 hours per week, though the actual hours worked per week may vary, with any accumulated hours over and above the 12.5 hours per week to be taken back during the Winthrop winter closure period (generally 6 weeks from mid-December to the end of January). The successful candidate must be able to work flexibly, being available to work on the days Winthrop is open to the public, Tuesday to Thursday, with occasional weekend working. The post is temporary at present to 31st March 2025.
We are seeking someone with excellent communication skills, both oral and written, who is able to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people. Excellence in people management and problem solving is essential, as is the ability to promote and maintain a positive environment which promotes our health and well-being ethos for both volunteers and customers alike. Good IT skills are necessary including competence with Microsoft software and experience with social media. We’re looking for someone with a positive attitude, empathetic and understanding of the needs of others, and the ability to work in a role which is physically demanding.
Experience of being a volunteer, working with volunteers, working in a community organisation, community setting or with community groups would also be highly desirable.
Interested applicants are welcome to contact the Winthrop Organiser, Anna Chester, for an informal discussion, on 07397 039226 or by email on [email protected].
For an application pack, please visit www.wickersleyparishcouncil.gov.uk or email [email protected].
The closing date for receipt of applications is 12 noon on Wednesday 3rd September 2025.
Interviews will be held Tuesday 9th September 2025.
