Role
Spire Renewables are looking for a driven and technically proficient Technical Sales Consultant to join our growing team in the renewable heating sector. Based at Taff’s Wells, Cardiff this role is ideal for someone who thrives on technical problem-solving, enjoys direct customer engagement, and is passionate about promoting low-carbon heating systems.
You will manage sales communications, design MCS-compliant systems, and contribute to business development initiatives. Your work will play a key role in driving the adoption of heat pump, battery and underfloor heating solutions across the domestic market.
Responsibilities
- Inbound Sales Management: Handle incoming sales calls, provide product guidance, and guide customers through our sales funnel.
- Customer Outreach: Proactively follow up on leads and quote requests via phone, email, and online platforms.
- Sales Pipeline Management: Track and follow up on opportunities, ensuring timely engagement with qualified leads and quoted customers.
- System Design: Produce detailed, MCS-compliant heating system designs, including schematics for heat pump and underfloor heating systems.
- Regulatory Compliance: Support compliance with MCS standards and Consumer Code requirements.
- Business Development: Cultivate new and repeat business with installers, developers, and specifiers.
- CRM & Reporting: Maintain accurate data in the CRM system and provide performance reports to support departmental insights and forecasting.
- Industry Engagement: Represent the company at trade shows, deliver CPD sessions, and stay informed on industry trends and best practices.
- Team Collaboration: Contribute to internal process improvements, share product knowledge, and support your colleagues within the Sales Team.
Skills
- Previous experience in a technical or consultative sales role particularly heat pumps, underfloor heating, battery and PV systems.
- Design Proficiency in MCS 3005, and heat loss calculation software.
· Ability to interpret / draw mechanical and electrical design schematics or CAD design
· Knowledge of building services and how energy is used within buildings an advantage and an interest in digital sales
- Comfortable managing multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.
- Capable of working independently and managing own workload
- Have attention to detail and ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects at different stages
- Confident user of CRM platforms for tracking leads, customers, and project stages.
- A full, clean UK driving license
· Effective time management and ability to maintain accurate records
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Excellent IT skills, including Advanced Excel and other common applications
· Ability to organise work and set priorities with a minimum of supervision
· Self-motivated, highly organised, able to demonstrate problem solving skills and a good team player
· Flexibility and able to take on additional roles as and when required
Desirable Qualifications
- To be educated to degree level in a relevant Mathematics, Science or Engineering Degree (desirable) or equivalent professional experience
- MCS training or equivalent renewable industry certification
- Experience and familiarity with underfloor heating design or installation, battery and PV
