Baloo House children’s home, provides care and accommodation for up to 3 young people aged 8-18 with social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties. Our carers’ understand the effects of early life trauma and respond with empathy using the PACE model. We have a firm but fair approach using boundaries and routine to help our children understand there is consistency and predictability in their lives. Along with this we guide children to make healthy life choices and build their confidence by being consistently available and reliable, earning trust and building positive connections. The home operates in a child centred approach giving children a voice, knowing their thoughts and feelings are heard and matter. This results in our home being a safe haven for our children to work through any past or future issues in a positive way.

Pay rate of £13.75 per hour. Salary is negotiable at the interview stage, in line with qualifications and experience.

Hours:- 40 hours per week plus sleep ins (£65 per sleep).

1 on 2 off rota. 3 week rolling rota.

Position Overview: As a Team Leader for Children's Residential Support Worker, your primary responsibility is to provide leadership, guidance, and support to a team of residential support workers who are responsible for caring for children and young people in a residential setting. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality care and support services that promote the well-being, development, and safety of the children under your supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

Provide effective leadership to a team of residential support workers, including recruitment, training, supervision, and performance management.

Set clear expectations, objectives, and targets for the team and ensure they are met.

Foster a positive and supportive working environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and professional growth.

Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to team members, promoting their personal and professional development.

Residential Care and Support:

Oversee the day-to-day operation of our residential facility, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for children and young people.

Develop and implement care plans and support strategies for each child, in line with their individual needs, goals, and aspirations.

Monitor and review the effectiveness of care plans, making necessary adjustments and ensuring adherence to relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.

Support and participate in the provision of direct care to children, including personal care, emotional support, and educational activities.

Partnership and Communication:

Establish and maintain effective communication channels with relevant stakeholders, including children, their families, social workers, and external agencies.

Collaborate with external professionals, such as therapists, educators, and healthcare providers, to ensure integrated care and support for the children.

Act as an advocate for the children, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are respected.

Attend and contribute to team meetings, case conferences, and other relevant forums to share information, provide updates, and contribute to decision-making processes.

Administrative and Record-Keeping:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including care plans, risk assessments, incident reports, and other relevant documentation.

Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, regulations, and policies related to childcare, safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection.

Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and quality assurance systems to improve the overall service delivery and outcomes.

Qualifications and Skills:

Must hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.

Previous experience working as a residential support worker with children and young people, preferably in a supervisory or team leadership role.

Good understanding of child development, attachment theory, trauma-informed care, and relevant legislation and regulations.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, colleagues, and external stakeholders.

Strong leadership and management abilities, including the capacity to motivate, inspire, and support a team.

Well-organised with good administrative and IT skills for record-keeping and report writing.

Ability to remain calm, composed, and empathetic in challenging situations.

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
