About the young person and the SEND Teaching Assistant (TA) role

- Located in London (IG3)
- 10 hours per week
- KS4 age (but working below age-related expectations)
- Needs tutoring and mentoring support
- Requires a caring Teaching Assistant (TA) who can support with their pre-verbal communication, ASC, GDD, and Severe Learning Difficulties needs
This role will involve working with the young person on a 2 to 1 basis alongside a TA, providing child-centred support focussed on engaging them and nurturing their wellbeing. It will involve travelling to the placement, supporting them, and writing a brief report to record your hours.

Essential
- Enhanced DBS (we can help obtain this for you)
- Experience, knowledge, and understanding of safeguarding processes
- A person-centred approach in your work
- A passion for helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement
- You must work in a way that promotes the health, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people and follow safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
Desirable
- Experience supporting pre-verbal communication, ASC, GDD, and Severe Learning Difficulties needs
- Experience with makaton
- You may be an experienced TA or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way
- You may have supported vulnerable family members or worked in care settings

At ASEND, we support SEN (Special Education Needs) / SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities), as well as other needs such as SEMH needs (Social, Emotional and Mental Health).
