TalentBoard is recruiting experienced and empathetic Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across schools in the Wirral area. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about inclusive education and have experience supporting young people with SEMH, ADHD, or behaviour that challenges.
We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds including education, care, youth work, and sports coaching—particularly those with a strong understanding of emotional and behavioural support strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide targeted support to pupils with SEMH and associated needs such as ADHD.
- Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions to promote emotional wellbeing and engagement.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Support pupils in managing behaviour and emotions using positive reinforcement techniques.
- Facilitate social skills sessions and structured activities to build confidence and resilience.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and families to ensure consistent support.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and contribute to review meetings.
- Help manage classroom routines and promote a calm, inclusive learning environment.
- Participate in ongoing training and development related to SEMH support.
Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of SEMH and ADHD, including practical strategies for support.
- Experience working with children or young people in education, care, or youth settings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trust with pupils.
- Confidence in managing challenging behaviour calmly and effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
- Willingness to engage in professional development.
