Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tailor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for garment construction and alteration, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work. As a Tailor, you will be responsible for creating, altering, and repairing garments to meet the specific needs of our clients. This role requires proficiency in various sewing techniques and an understanding of fabric types and garment construction.
Responsibilities
- Measure clients accurately to determine the correct fit for garments.
- Create custom garments based on client specifications and preferences.
- Alter existing clothing items to ensure proper fit and style, including adjustments to sleeves, hems, and waistlines.
- Repair damaged clothing by replacing zippers, buttons, or other components as needed.
- Select appropriate fabrics and materials for each project, considering durability and aesthetics.
- Maintain an organised workspace, ensuring all tools and materials are kept in good condition.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding their preferences and any necessary alterations or adjustments.
- Stay updated on current fashion trends and tailoring techniques to enhance skills and service offerings.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Tailor or Seamstress is essential.
- Proficiency in using sewing machines, hand sewing techniques, and other tailoring tools.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce high-quality work consistently.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Good communication skills to interact effectively with clients and understand their needs.
- A creative mindset with an eye for design is advantageous but not essential.
