Job Description
Be part of a high-impact radar systems upgrade that strengthens the UK’s naval defence capability.
We're supporting a critical programme focused on the modernisation and testing of complex radar tracking and control systems. This role involves taking legacy test processes and transforming them into automated, repeatable solutions. You'll work hands-on with system-level test specification and validation across embedded hardware/software interfaces.

Location: Isle of Wight (Hybrid – Portsmouth or Chelmsford possible)
On-Site Requirement: 4–5 days per week onsite
Experience Level: Mid-level (2–9 years experience)
Clearance: Must hold or be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC)
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Design Test Specifications (DTS) for radar tracking and control subsystems
- Deliver a comprehensive suite of functional and integration tests to support radar system upgrades
- Analyse and update legacy test procedures to enable automation and improved repeatability
- Collaborate with design and integration teams to ensure thorough test coverage and traceability
- Participate in system validation, fault investigation, and hardware/software integration in lab environments
- Interpret technical documentation, block diagrams and requirements to guide test strategies
Required Skills:
- Proven experience in system-level test design, specification, and validation
- Strong technical understanding of embedded systems, radar, or real-time control systems
- Familiarity with test automation, scripting, or hardware-in-the-loop testing (e.g. Python, Bash, LabVIEW)
- Ability to interpret and work from engineering schematics, block diagrams, and requirements
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively in cross-functional engineering teams
- Detail-oriented, methodical, and solution-focused in testing and validation environments
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering
OR
- A highly relevant technical background from UK Armed Forces working on radar or naval systems
- Must be eligible for UK SC Security Clearance (Minimum 5 Years in the UK)
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with radar, sensor, or surveillance systems
- Familiarity with platform integration and operational testing
- Knowledge of safety-critical systems and standards (e.g. DEF STANs, STANAGs)
