We are currently looking to recruit for a Sustainability Assistant to support our Sustainability Manager and help us maintain our broad range of sustainability (social and environmental) projects.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist the Sustainability Manager with our annual submission to Eight Versa to determine our carbon footprint. This involves data collection for Scopes 1, 2 & 3 for the Head Office function.
- Analyse and clean large Scope 3 data sets to prepare for carbon footprint submission (eg. waste reports, site-based assumptions, supplier consumption data).
- Assist with researching new innovations in the carbon capture and avoidance market and keeping up to date with the latest information (eg: CDR options, legislation changes and emissions factors updates).
- Keeping the site-based model up to date with current emissions factors.
- Assist with updating the Net Zero Plan annually and making progress on the net zero action plan steps.
- Take responsibility for collecting site-based carbon data to measure site-based carbon footprints using our bespoke operational model. This includes visiting sites, inputting and analysing data.
- Take responsibility for producing timely client-facing carbon reports from our site-based model.
- Assist the Sustainability Manager in the Head Office function Social Value data and evidence collection, and submission to SVP.
- Assist the Sustainability Manager with site-based Social Value data collection on client sites where this is offered. This includes setting up projects in SVP, gathering data, inputting evidence, and producing reports.
- Support in working with SVP, such as raising queries, account management and annual TOMs updates to develop our reporting.
- Assist in creating and updating sustainability reports.
- Taking minutes and notes at relevant meetings, eg. monthly ESG updates meeting, update calls with Eight Versa.
- Assist with sharing updated sustainability information with relevant departments (eg. annual HO carbon and SVP reports to Sales and Marketing).
- Assist with ESG presentations to clients when required (eg. Social Value initiatives & Sales), involves travel to some client sites.
- Prepare internal Social Value and carbon reporting updates.
- Support with developing existing and new Social Value initiatives (eg. exploring new SEUK suppliers, donations, and volunteering).
Admin support for keeping ESG documents and contacts up to date in our internal Gnet system.
- Liaise with the Marketing Team when required regarding sustainability information communications.
- Support with sustainability awards entries.
- Assist the Sustainability Manager in supporting the Operations Team with requests for sustainability information (eg. ESG sections in Monthly Reports).
- Assist in dealing with client requests about sustainability (eg. Information, reports, SEUK products, Scope 3 data).
- Liaising with sustainability partners, supporting the management of programs we engage with (Trees for Cities, Cool Earth).
- Organising and attending volunteering events (eg. litter picking) and helping with the Giving Days programme.
- OnHand admin support.
- Dolly Parton Imagination Library account management. Monthly new sign ups and leavers.
- Helping with preparing and analysing annual employee surveys (Site-based satisfaction, HO satisfaction and D&I).
- Providing sustainability inductions to all new starters, as well as keeping induction content up to date.
- Take responsibility for leading and scheduling the Charity Committee.
- Support the Sustainability Manager and Compliance Manager by liaising with environmental consultants/partners such as Green Achiever and ESOS advisor where needed.
- Assist with ensuring all other accreditations are renewed prior to them expiring. Liaising with the accreditation providers, providing them with the required data to achieve renewed accreditation (eg. EcoVadis, CIPs).
- Take responsibility for the ESG competitors analysis, which includes frequent updates and presenting key findings
- Keeping ESG documentation up to date eg. carbon & SVP tracker, SVP record, SEUK record, induction slides, giving days record, donations record.
Essential Skills Required
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong ability to analyse data.
- Pro-active, ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Strong administration skills.
- Excellent planning, analytical and organisational abilities with attention to detail and compliance.
- Excellent knowledge of all Microsoft packages including Excel and Word to at least Intermediate but preferably Advanced level. Ability to use Canva is useful to the role.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer-facing skills.
- A high level of confidentiality.
- Tact and diplomacy.
- Can do attitude.
Qualifications
- Sustainability (or similar) degree or equivalent qualification preferred but not essential.
Experience
- Beneficial but not essential.
