Your Support. Their Growth. Better Futures.
Every young person deserves the chance to thrive. As our Support Worker, you'll help young people aged 16-21 who are experiencing homelessness build the skills and confidence they need to live independently.
This role is about seeing potential where others might see problems. Working through our young persons services in Bath, you'll help them develop practical life skills, manage their wellbeing, and work towards sustainable independent living.
You'll be the steady presence who helps turn uncertainty into opportunity, creating personalised support that addresses their unique circumstances and goals.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting young people to develop personalised support plans that help them achieve their goals
- Delivering one-to-one support sessions, helping them build practical skills like budgeting and tenancy management
- Working with partner agencies to ensure young people get comprehensive support
- Supporting young people through their housing journey, from temporary accommodation to independent living
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to team meetings
- Building positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
- Following safeguarding procedures and recognising when to seek additional support
What you'll get in return
Beyond a competitive salary and the chance to make a real difference every day, you'll get:
- 26 days annual leave per year (plus bank holidays) rising to 29 days after 3 years
- Your birthday off as an extra holiday
- Up to 10% matched pension contribution
- Flexible benefits which might include a Health Cash Plan
- Access to an Employee Assistance Programme for your own wellbeing
More about you
We're looking for someone who can connect with young people and help them see their potential. Your background might be in retail, hospitality, education, or any field where you've supported others - what matters is your ability to build relationships and help people develop.
Essential:
- Ability to work with vulnerable people - perhaps you've supported customers through difficult situations, helped family members navigate challenges, or volunteered with community groups
- Ability to manage multiple priorities - maybe you've juggled various customer needs, coordinated projects, or managed competing demands in any role
- Strong communication skills - whether that's explaining things clearly to customers, writing reports, or building rapport with people from different backgrounds
- Understanding of safeguarding - recognising when someone might be at risk and knowing how to get help (full training provided)
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries - keeping appropriate limits while still being supportive and empathetic
Desirable:
- Experience working with young people in any setting
- Knowledge of housing, benefits, or social services
- Understanding of mental health and wellbeing support
- Experience working with other agencies or services
We value the different perspectives and experiences you bring. Your life experience could be exactly what helps a young person take their next step forward.
