Support Worker – Children’s Residential Home
Location: Walsall, WS3
Contract Type: Full-Time
Shifts: Days and Nights (on a rota basis)
Salary: £13.00 per hour
Driving Requirement: Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team in a residential setting for children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs. The role involves providing high-quality care and contributing to a safe, structured, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver consistent care and support to children and young people aged 8–17 in line with their individual care plans
- Promote emotional wellbeing, personal development, and independence
- Support with daily routines including education, mealtimes, household tasks, and personal care
- Manage challenging behaviour using approved de-escalation techniques
- Maintain accurate and timely records including daily logs, incident reports, and safeguarding documentation
- Collaborate effectively with other team members, social workers, healthcare professionals, and families
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safeguarding requirements
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children, young people, or in a care environment is desirable
- Full UK driving licence is essential (you must be able to transport residents when required)
- Ability to work a flexible shift pattern including weekends and bank holidays
- Strong communication, resilience, and interpersonal skills
- A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion
- An Enhanced DBS check will be required (cost covered by employer)
