Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to assist individuals in achieving their personal goals and enhancing their quality of life. This role involves providing direct support to clients in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and in-home care environments. The Support Worker will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of those under their care.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide patient care and support for individuals with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and autism.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and report any changes to the healthcare team.
- Implement care plans tailored to individual needs and preferences.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Assist with medication administration as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and uphold client confidentiality at all times.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to enhance the overall well-being of clients.
Experience
Candidates should possess experience or skills in the following areas:
- First aid and CPR certification is preferred.
- Previous experience in group homes, nursing homes, or assisted living settings.
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs.
- Knowledge of memory care practices and techniques for supporting individuals with dementia.
- Proficiency in cooking and meal preparation for clients.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary, including the use of Hoyer lifts for mobility assistance.
