Support Worker – A Role That Really Matters
Location: Cambridgeshire | Salary: £31,200 | Contract: Full time, 40 hours/week
Are you someone who genuinely wants to make a difference in a young person’s life?
Karoo Group is offering a unique opportunity for a Support Worker to join our newly opened solo provision in the heart of the Cambridgeshire countryside. This isn’t just a job—it’s a chance to be a champion for a young person, supporting them in building the life they deserve.
Who are we looking for?
Someone who leads with heart. Someone who’s not afraid to roll up their sleeves and be a steady, positive force in a young person’s life. If you're driven to help others thrive—even in the face of challenges—this could be the role for you.
What you’ll be doing:
- Be a trusted guide: Step into the role of a corporate parent, offering love, consistency and direction.
- Build real relationships: Connect deeply with young people who’ve experienced complex starts in life, using our Trauma-Informed model.
- Be their advocate: Make sure their voice is heard, their rights respected, and their choices supported.
- Support and safeguard: Ensure the safety, well-being and development of the young person in your care.
- Lead with curiosity and compassion: Embed Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and the PLACE approach (Playfulness, Love, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy) into everyday interactions.
- Be flexible and fun: Get involved in activities, outings and appointments—it’s all part of the experience.
- Stay calm in a storm: Support the young person through big emotions and complex behaviours, including during crisis situations.
- Keep things on track: Help ensure the home delivers outstanding care and meets or exceeds all inspection and regulatory standards.
What you’ll need:
- Experience working in children’s residential care (2 years desirable).
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- A strong sense of responsibility and a genuine passion for making a difference.
- A recognised qualification: QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
At Karoo Group, safeguarding young people is our top priority. We’re committed to creating safe, nurturing spaces where children and young people can flourish—and we expect every team member to share that commitment.
