We are looking for support workers to assist with the care of a young woman who has suffered a traumatic brain injury and is currently living in a nursing care home by the coast. The post will require the successful applicant to build a strong relationship with her, alongside supporting her rehabilitation journey and be prepared to do the things that she would enjoy such as outings, reading, listening to music etc.. The role would also require you to provide support with hands on personal care (both morning and evening), engage in some therapeutic activities, and provide emotional support and companionship.
It is very important that the person delivering this support is patient and willing to get to know the young woman well, is someone who can work collaboratively with both the nursing home team and the private rehabilitation team. Excellent relationships with this woman’s mum will also be essential which will help to gain insight to what her daughter would like to do, and the best way to support her. The young woman in question is currently unable to communicate so it is critical that the person appointed is has some experience of individuals with complex needs, can use their initiative and is able to demonstrate compassion and patience.
The ideal candidate will be reliable, open, honest, willing to learn, have good communication skills (both written and verbal), is a good listener and will possess a blend of practical skills and emotional intelligence with a sense of positivity, encouragement, empathy, and fun. We are looking for people who can demonstrate a strong professionalism and would relish the opportunity to make a very positive impact in the life of this young woman.
HOURS - Part time (under 30 hours)
At the moment, hours are around 7:30am until 12 noon or 7.30 til 2pm (on different days) (2:1 care) and 5pm until 10pm (1:1 care with support from care home staff. These are classed as split shifts hence the hourly rate.
You must be a confident driver as the client has their own vehicle.
We understand the hours are unusual and the pay reflects this. We are looking for candidates who are reliable, resourceful and puts their client first.
