Houghton Parkhouse, an award-winning specialist in the design and manufacture of commercial livestock vehicles, is seeking a Storeman with previous experience in a similar role within a manufacturing stores environment to join our team due to high demand for our specialist products.
Job Description:
· Manage stock levels , including receiving goods and distributing stock.
· Coordinate with in-house buyer to ensure timely delivery of materials and components.
· Implement cost-effective measures to optimize inventory levels and reduce wastage.
· Conduct regular stock audits and cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory records.
· Monitor and report on stock levels and usage trends to anticipate future inventory needs.
· Ensure the quality of received goods and handle returns for faulty or damaged items when necessary.
· Maintain security and cleanliness of the stores areas, ensuring compliance with quality control standards.
· Implement and enforce safety protocols related to handling and storage of materials.
· Assist in the preparation of materials for production as per manufacturing schedules.
· Collaborate with other departments to support operational efficiency and meet production deadlines.
· Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance store operations and efficiency.
· Train and mentor store staff as required on store procedures and safety guidelines.
· Interact daily with colleagues, including the issuing PPE and handling manual lifting, as required.
· Utilise computerised recording systems for accurate inventory management.
Requirements:
· Proven experience in a manufacturing stores environment, ideally within a manufacturing setting.
· Strong IT skills, particularly with Microsoft packages, and familiarity with inventory management systems.
· Background in engineering or related fields is preferred.
· Excellent communication skills and a commitment to maintaining high standards of efficiency and organisation.
· Forklift license is beneficial, training can be provided if required.
