The role
Do you enjoy working around books and want to support Libraries from behind the scenes?
The Acquisitions Unit is looking for volunteers to help the team with day-to-day tasks.
Acquisitions is a busy unit based at Blagreaves Lane Library that looks after new and existing stock.
The work carried out includes:
- receiving deliveries of new books, equipment and resources
- preparing donations for the shelves
- sorting and organising books and materials that are moving between libraries
What you might be asked to do:
- labeling new books and donations
- shelving books in the correct areas
- sorting skips of books to be sent out to libraries
- tidying shelves
- finding requested books
What we need
- someone who is reliable, organised, and accurate in their work
- a willingness to work as part of team
- good communication skills
- enthusiastic
- the ability to file books in alphabetical and numerical order.
Qualifications
No formal qualifications required.
The work can be physical and does involve lifting and carrying
