Salary: Band 5-7 (depending on experience)
We are working with a SEN School in Slough are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join their team and lead sessions for pupils with complex learning needs inclusive of autism (ASD), MLD and communication (SLCN) challenges.
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will be responsible for:
- Assess and diagnose speech, language, and communication difficulties in pupils with ASD and MLD.
- Develop and implement individualised therapy plans.
- Provide direct therapy sessions to individuals and groups, incorporating a range of evidence-based techniques and strategies.
- Collaborate with teachers, teaching assistants, and other professionals to integrate speech and language support into the wider curriculum.
- Support staff and parents/carers in reinforcing communication strategies and techniques in the classroom and home environment.
- Monitor and evaluate pupil progress, adjusting therapy plans as necessary to ensure ongoing improvement.
Requirements of a Speech and Language Therapist:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or similar field.
- HCPC registered.
- Previous experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist, preferably with children with special needs.
- Knowledge and experience of working with ASD, SLD, and MLD.
- Familiarity with Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and Makaton.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Enthusiasm, creativity, and a genuine passion for making a positive difference in the lives of children with communication difficulties.
- Access to good references
- An Enhanced DBS
