Day Support Worker – Solo Placement Children’s Residential Home – Reading
Pay: £13.00 – £13.50 per hour
Shifts: 7:30 AM – 9:30 PM (No sleep-ins required)

Cornerstone Children’s Homes is seeking dedicated Residential Support Workers to provide one-to-one support for a young person in a solo residential setting in Reading. This unique position offers the opportunity to have a profound and lasting impact during a critical stage in a young person’s life.

This is not a typical support position. You will play a vital role in helping a young person build trust, stability, and resilience—laying the foundation for long-term healing and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver trauma-informed, therapeutic care tailored to individual needs
- Support emotional regulation, mental health challenges, and behaviours of concern
- Apply de-escalation techniques and physical interventions when necessary (training provided)
- Maintain structured routines and ensure emotional safety in a solo care environment
- Assist with daily routines, personal care, and development of independent living skills
- Participate in key working sessions and actively contribute to care planning
- Work collaboratively within a skilled and supportive team
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in residential childcare, therapeutic settings, or mental health support
- Confidence managing complex behaviours using trained intervention strategies
- High emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- A proactive, responsible attitude and strong teamwork skills
- Genuine commitment to supporting young people who have experienced trauma or adversity

Experience:

Licence/Certification:
