Due to internal progression, we are looking to appoint a self-driven, conscientious, and dedicated individual to lead the shift in delivering high standards of workmanship, while meeting production targets.
Based at our Aberdeen Workshop and reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for motivating the team to achieve performance goals, schedule product requirements to meet your teams’ strengths, and encourage team development.
As Shift Team Leader you will report to the Production Manager.
Key responsibilities:
- To ensure the standard of workmanship, including trimming of parts, are maintained within their shift.
- Work to and fulfil the production plan developed daily in conjunction with the Production Manager to meet business needs, ensuring all team members meet the necessary targets.
- To ensure reject levels are maintained within the targets levels and to investigate and report back of rejects above target or causing concern.
- Supervising uplift and return of rubber, filling in the appropriate documentation to ensure accurate stock monitoring
- Regular inspections off all running compression and injection jobs to ensure:
- The machine settings are producing the optimal output and minimum achievable rejection rate from the individual machine.
- Machine problems are detected at an early stage.
- Ensuring the standard of housekeeping within their team and shift is maintained.
- Actively promote motivation of employee on their team, including encouraging team development and improving the team dynamic by providing regular constructive feedback and providing help and encouragement.
- Undertake annual appraisals complete relevant documentation of personnel working on their team.
- Complete personnel administration including return to work interviews; attending disciplinary and grievance hearings and monitoring sickness absence of the team. Reporting back to the Production Manager when issues arise and require further discussion/action.
- The initiation and implementation of tasks that will improve all aspects of quality within the company.
Candidate Requirements
- Must have previous experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment within a Supervisor / Leadership position.
- Ability to motivate self, team, or staff
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles (5S) advantageous
- Leadership and managerial skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Track record of improvements and business objectives achieved in past employment
- Professional and positive attitude
- Excellent organization skills – working to tight deadlines and with multiple priorities
- Numeric and literacy skills
- Computer literate with working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
- Working knowledge of personnel policy and procedure
Candidate must be able to work shifts, which is covered over a three-shift rotation pattern (6am – 2pm, 2pm – 10pm & 10pm – 6am) rotating each week.
