About Us:
At Invictus Morale, we’re a small but dynamic team based in the heart of Great Grimsby. Our secure and welcoming workshop is where we combine creativity and craftsmanship to produce high-quality products, from morale patches to bespoke merchandise. With growing demand for our unique offerings, we’re looking to expand our team with a talented, part-time, freelance or self-employed/contract sewing machinist.
The Role:
As a Freelance Sewing Machinist, you’ll play a key role in creating a variety of high-quality, bespoke products. Your expertise will help us meet the increasing demand for our specialist items.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble, stitch and finish small products such as ID panels, name badges, patches, bags, pouches, as well as leather goods.
- Stitch patches onto caps and hats with precision and care.
- Operate various industrial sewing machines, including Walking Foot, Cylinder Arm, Post Bed, Bar-tack and edge binding machines.
- Work with a broad range of materials, including commercial-grade fabrics, vinyls, industrial textiles, and leather hide.
- Interpret and follow design specifications accurately.
- Ensure consistent quality control throughout the sewing process.
- Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of sewing equipment.
- Collaborate with our creative team to refine techniques and troubleshoot challenges. Suggest changes, improve processes.
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience as a sewing machinist, preferably in a commercial or industrial setting.
- Proficiency in operating industrial sewing machines and handling technical materials like velcro, edge binding and leather.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- Flexible availability to adapt to project needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on a contract/part-time, freelance or self-employed basis.
- A portfolio showcasing a variety of sewing projects and skills.
- Familiarity with specialised sewing techniques.
