Aston Martin Lagonda is seeking a highly capable and experienced Material Planning Senior Manager to lead a critical function within our manufacturing operations. This role is central to ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of parts and materials to support production schedules, new model launches, and ongoing supply chain performance.
As Senior Manager, you will oversee a team of material planners, contractors, and external consultants, driving operational excellence across logistics, inventory control, and supplier performance. You’ll be responsible for managing complex supply routes, including coordination between tiered suppliers and sub-assembly manufacturers, while ensuring parts availability aligns with production demands and stock level targets.
This role demands a strategic thinker with hands-on leadership skills. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams—Production, Engineering, Programme Management, Finance, Quality, IT, and Purchasing—to resolve supply issues, manage engineering changes, and support the launch of new model derivatives. You’ll also be accountable for departmental KPIs, budget oversight, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance both internal processes and external supplier delivery performance.
Your remit includes managing inventory valued at approximately £40 million, overseeing warehouse and lineside stock control, and ensuring minimal obsolescence through proactive change management. You’ll lead investigations into invoice discrepancies, coordinate BOM resolutions, and represent the supply chain function in daily production reviews and weekly senior management meetings. Additionally, you’ll guide the implementation of supply chain tools such as PFEP, BOM validation, and open-to-go tracking to support new programme launches.
This is a predominantly on-site role, requiring close alignment with manufacturing operations and flexibility to support teams across multiple locations and shifts. Occasional travel will be required to assess and support supplier performance, including extended periods off-site when necessary.
What You Bring
You are a confident and collaborative leader with deep expertise in material planning, supplier management, and automotive logistics. You have a proven track record of managing tier 1 suppliers, improving delivery performance, and launching new model programmes. You’re comfortable navigating ERP/MRP systems, possess advanced Excel skills, and have a strong understanding of warehouse and 3PL operations.
You’re analytical, resourceful, and resilient under pressure. You know how to influence stakeholders, coach and mentor your team, and drive results in a fast-paced, changeable production environment. A degree in a relevant field is preferred, though equivalent experience will be considered.
