Are you an experienced finance professional who wants your work to make a meaningful difference? A unique opportunity has arisen for a Senior Finance Officer to join our dedicated team at the head office of an established charity committed to serving the poor and caring for the elderly.
About the Role
As Senior Finance Officer, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day financial operations of the charity. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will act as an internal first point of contact on all finance related matters and keep abreast of activity on key projects and day-to-day issues. You will ensure that all costs are accurately tracked, actioned, and reported in a clear, timely and cost-effective manner.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Carry out day-to-day finance activities, maintaining financial records and progressing agreed actions.
2. Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
3. Work collaboratively with the Trustees and managers to prepare annual budgets.
4. Maintain an effective budgetary control and variance reporting system.
5. Monitor all income and expenditure, oversee processes to control/approve expenditure.
6. Monitor cash flow.
7. Manage quarter end close activities.
8. Ensure good debtor and supplier management.
9. Put supportive systems in place to set effective budgets, monitor expenditure and report variances.
10. Support the Head of Finance with management accounts, prepare year end accounts for the annual audit incorporating the annual report and financial statement, and support the audit process.
About You
We’re looking for a finance professional who shares our values and can combine strong charity finance skills.
· Part-qualified accountant (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, AAT Level 4 )
· Recent experience working in a professional finance role – 3 years +
· Experience in the finance month end process including reconciliations
· Demonstrable ability to streamline finance systems and procedures
· Experience in using finance software including Xero
· Experience in budgeting and forecasting
· Ability to keep track of a wide variety of issues and maintain accurate records
· Experience working in the not for profit/charity sector
