The post holder will work predominantly at The Princess Royal Hospital but may be required to attend the Royal Sussex County Hospital to support the major trauma service as and when required.
Senior Fellows will have the opportunity to benefit from consultant-led training in theatres, access to robotic theatre, outpatient clinics and MDTs. Other opportunities within this post includes contribution to research, undergraduate education and management/leadership roles.
As well as contributing to the elective wards alongside the other registrars, you will participate in the 1:7 general on call rota which provides cover to the acute emergency Urology service at Princess Royal Hospital and the Royal Sussex County Hospital. This will provide experience to emergency care/theatres and multi-disciplinary working in a major Trauma Centre.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Duties:
Provide day-to-day care for urology inpatients, including conducting ward rounds and liaising with multidisciplinary teams.
Assess and manage patients in the emergency department and outpatient clinics under consultant supervision.
Participate in pre-operative and post-operative care, including ward-based procedures such as catheter changes and nephrostomy management.
Assist in the operating theatre, gaining exposure to a range of urological procedures.
On-Call Responsibilities:
Manage acute urology admissions and emergencies on a rotational basis.
Provide initial assessments and perform interventions as required, escalating complex cases to senior team members.
Communication and Coordination:
Act as a key point of contact between consultants, registrars, nursing staff, and other departments.
Ensure accurate and thorough documentation of patient records and care plans.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, including mortality and morbidity reviews.
Teaching and Development:
Provide teaching and supervision to medical students and junior colleagues.
Attend departmental teaching sessions and actively engage in clinical audits, research, and quality improvement projects.
