SEND Teaching Assistant – Support, Inspire, Empower
A mainstream primary school is seeking a caring and committed SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs in a classroom setting. This is a long-term temporary role starting in September, with the possibility of becoming permanent. It's a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and wants to help children succeed socially, emotionally, and academically.
The Role
You’ll work closely with the class teacher and SENDCO to provide tailored support to pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), helping them access learning in a way that meets their individual needs. This may include one-to-one support, small group interventions, and general classroom assistance. Each day will bring new opportunities to make a difference in a child’s progress and confidence.
The Ideal Person and Skills/Education Needed
This role is ideal for someone with experience in education, care, or support settings, particularly with children who have additional needs such as autism, ADHD, or speech and language difficulties. You should be calm under pressure, able to build positive relationships, and passionate about helping children overcome challenges.
A Teaching Assistant, EYFS or Childcare qualification is required for this role.
The School
The school is inclusive, nurturing, and committed to providing a positive learning experience for all pupils. Staff are proud of their collaborative ethos and the supportive culture they’ve created. Children with SEND are fully integrated into school life, with personalised support helping them grow in confidence and independence.
Working Hours
8.30 am–3.30 pm, Monday to Friday
Open to both full-time and part-time applicants
