SEND Teaching Assistant

A warm and inclusive primary school is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with additional needs and play a key role in their educational journey.
About the Role
You will work alongside class teachers and the SENDCo to provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs. This may include one-to-one assistance, small group interventions, and helping to adapt classroom activities to ensure accessibility for all. The role offers variety and the chance to build strong, supportive relationships with children.
The Ideal Candidate
- A kind, patient, and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with children
- A recognised Teaching Assistant, Early Years or Childcare qualification (required for roles in primary mainstream schools in Cumbria)
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND, or transferable skills from care, health, or social care
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

Hours
Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm. Applications are welcome from both full-time and part-time candidates.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
