National Grid is hiring a Safety, Health & Wellbeing Advisor to join the Safety, Health and Wellbeing team within the Safety, Health, Environment and Resilience (SHER) function of National Grid Ventures.

As a Safety, Health & Wellbeing Advisor, you'll have a solid understanding of safety, health and wellbeing management systems and best practice to promote a positive SHW culture with proactive, visible and influential behaviours and improvement initiatives.

You'll get involved in a range of activities including re-energizing safety and campaigns supporting the health and wellbeing of team members across all aspects of the National Grid Ventures business portfolio.

We offer flexible hybrid working arrangements. We’d hope to see you in our Warwick office one or 2 days a week, and you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you and there will also be ad-hoc travel to other locations as business need arises.

What you'll do


  • Work with the wider Safety, Health & Wellbeing (SHW) team to ensure effective implementation and legal compliance of key SHW standards and processes including Safety Management System, wellbeing campaigns, Stress Risk Assessment and mental health programmes.
  • Support the delivery of the NGV Human & Organisational Performance (HOP) initiatives and philosophies.
  • Create and deliver presentations and facilitate workshops and team engagement sessions across SHW subject matter.
  • Maintain understanding and up-to-date awareness of SHW developments and innovation to identify opportunities for improvement and new ways of working.
  • Use all available data to identify emerging SHW risks, support the delivery a range of risk-based programs and review controls to evaluate and analyse effectiveness.
  • Undertake continuous improvement such as benchmarking SHW performance and reviews to ensure ongoing leading indicator development and learning organisation.
  • Develop relationships internally and externally to promote SHW
  • Work closely with internal, cross department teams and third-party service providers to maximise and evaluate uptake of support services offered to staff.


What you'll need


  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent in related Safety or Health & Wellbeing field.
  • Provent experience of safety management and working knowledge of UK Safety, Health and Wellbeing legislation.
  • Experience of delivering or being an active part of SHW Programmes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret SHW data and attention to detail to support compliance monitoring and reporting.
  • Experience of managing and engaging with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office tools – PowerPoint, Word, Excel, SharePoint and PowerBI an advantage.
  • Proficiency in report writing with the ability to communicate findings clearly and effectively.


What you'll get


A competitive salary between £48,000 - £58,000 per annum– dependent on capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
