Fast Lane Road Markings are currently seeking a motivated and reliable Road Marking Operative (Second Man) to join our expanding team based in Newcastle upon Tyne.
This is a fantastic opportunity to build a long-term career in a specialist trade. Full training provided and an immediate start available but we’re happy to wait for the right candidate.
What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Road Marking Operative, you’ll work alongside experienced colleagues, learning the trade while supporting with hands-on tasks. Your role will include:
- Assisting in applying high-quality markings across a wide variety of sites, including roads, car parks, warehouses, school playgrounds & sports pitches
- Working mainly on private sites (not public highways) – ensuring variety and new challenges every day.
- Reading and following drawings, RAMS and site instructions accurately.
- Operating and maintaining plant and associated equipment.
- Completing shifts safely, efficiently and to a high standard; sometimes during evenings, nights, or weekends to minimise client disruption.
- Interacting professionally with site managers, clients and the public, representing Fast Lane with courtesy and dignity at all times.
- Maintaining accurate project, site and photographic records for quality assurance.
This is an active, outdoor role that involves teamwork, problem solving, and physical hands-on work.

What We’re Looking For:
No road marking experience? No problem – we’ll teach you. What matters most is attitude, hard-work and reliability.
You’ll need:
- A full, clean UK driving licence
- Your own reliable transport to and from our yard in Benton.
- A strong work ethic and positive, can-do attitude.
- Literacy and numeracy skills to follow written instructions, read site drawings, and set out markings accurately.
- Strong awareness of health & safety and quality standards with great attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and occasionally away from home.
- Willingness to complete a DBS and security vetting process (for schools, hospitals etc).
Desirable (but not essential):
- Previous experience in road marking or a related construction field
- Valid CSCS card
- Other relevant training/qualifications – NVQ Level 2 Roadbuilding, SSSTS, IOSH, First Aid, Manual Handling etc
