We’re looking for a Risk, Health, Safety, and Environment Manager to join us and provide expert advice and guidance for Co-op Property projects. At Co-op, we’re proud to be the owners of one of the UK’s largest and most varied commercial property portfolios. As the UK’s biggest food community food retailer and national Funeralcare leader we have a complex estate, present in every postal area in Britain.

In this role, you’ll make sure that all third parties involved in managing our projects are aligned with health and safety legislation and the Co-op property code of conduct. Projects could include new builds, refits, capital investment, asset renewal schemes and facilities management projects across our food stores, funeral homes, and logistic depots. You’ll spend most of your time on the road carrying out on-site inspections and working with our supply chain team. It’s a big role, but a fantastic opportunity to build your profile and establish yourself as a trusted RHSE specialist with a variety of people and leaders across the Co-op network.

What you’ll do

• Provide professional and expert advice and guidance to supply chain, peers, and senior management.
• Carry out construction site inspections on our retail, funeralcare and logistics projects
• Investigate accidents, incidents or near misses, learning from them and advising on improvements
• Assess and evaluate our supply chain
• Build solid and collaborative relationships with internal colleagues, contractors, and enforcement bodies
• Make sure appropriate risk management principles are embedded into all our activities
• Lead and support on a range of tactical projects relating to our RHSE strategy

This role would suit people who have

• CMIOSH or GradIOSH or working towards
• A NEBOSH diploma, NCRQ, NVQ or an equivalent degree
• In-depth knowledge of the CDM 2015 regulations.
• Solid experience of inspecting and auditing construction sites 
• Eperience in a similar role managing risk-based health, safety, and environmental decisions
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to forge meaningful relationships with internal and external partners
• Great organisation and planning skills, with the ability to manage your own workload and work independently as well as part of a team
• A full UK driver’s licence
