Children's Support Worker
Location: Oswestry
Salary: £25,735 per year
Hours: Full-Time, Permanent
About the Role:
We are looking for a team of resilient and nurturing Children's Support workers to join our home, caring for young people who may have severe learning disabilities, autism and complex needs, some of whom are non-verbal. You will be the person to give encouragement and praise when needed, to be patient and understanding during times of crisis and your passion and knowledge will inspire the team to achieve the best outcomes. Personal care will also be a requirement as part of the position.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience working with children with learning disabilities and/or emotional & behavioural difficulties would be an advantage but not essential.
- A willingness to learn and complete a qualification in Children's residential care.
- Experience or knowledge of child-centred, therapeutic models would be beneficial but not essential.
- Makaton or BSL would be beneficial but not essential.
- Great communication skills, naturally caring, flexible and resilient.
- You need to be able to work flexibly in caring for the children. This will include working shifts and sleep-ins.
- Full UK Driving licence is beneficial

· Support & Guidance: Assist in managing the team of Residential Care Workers by offering clear guidance and support.
· Promote Well-being: Actively support the health, safety, and general well-being of the young people, ensuring their care plans are followed.
· Positive Role Model: Lead by example, creating a nurturing and homely atmosphere where young people can feel safe and supported.
· Achieve Potential: Enable the young people to pursue their personal goals and maximize their potential in all areas of life.
· Team Collaboration: Work closely with the management team to deliver a high standard of care.
