A Research Assistant or Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the Peppa Lab to work on the immunology of HIV/HBV infection to advance cure strategies. The post holder will be based at the new state-of-the-art Institute of Immunity and Transplantation, in UCL's Division of Infection and Immunity (Royal Free campus, Pears Building).The Division of Infection & Immunity aims to translate advances in the understanding of pathogens and the immune system into improved therapies. The Peppa Lab focuses on dissecting the molecular and cellular mechanisms that dictate immune cell function, particularly of NK cell subsets and unconventional CD8 T cells, in patients living with chronic viral infection to facilitate development of new and safe therapeutics. The group has strong clinical links to the adjacent Royal Free Hospital.
About the role
The post is available to start as soon as possible, until 30 June 2026 in the first instance.
About you
- PhD or equivalent in Biology/Immunology/Biomedical Sciences or related subject (for Postdoctoral Research Associate appointment)
- MSc in Biology/Immunology/Biomedical Sciences or related subject (for Research Assistant appointment)
- Experience working in a research laboratory
Essential Skills and Experience:
- High level of attention to detail and proven commitment to scientific excellence
- Significant experience in human cellular immunology
- High level of competency in cell culture and multiparameter flow cytometry
- Highly organised with excellent time management skills
- Ability to work to strict deadlines and flexible hours
- Effective communication skills with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to maintain accurate and detailed written laboratory records
- Hepatitis B immunity required
Highly Desirable:
- Experience in transcriptomics and bioinformatics
