Job Description

The Centre is looking for a 0.4FTE Research Assistant or Postdoctoral Researcher to work on the project “God Without Human Speech.” The project is part of a larger project, “God, Language and Diversity,” funded by the John Templeton Foundation and run from the University of Leeds. The main purpose of the role is to do data collection with non- or minimally-speaking autistic people. This post is available until January 2026.

Applicants must have relevant experience of working with non- or minimally-speaking autistic people – as researchers, caregivers, or otherwise. It is expected that candidates for this post have experience with qualitative research.

For appointment on the grade 6 level, it is desirable that by the time the successful candidate starts working on this project, they would have a PhD in a relevant field (e.g., theology, psychology). Furthermore, an educational background in theology is desirable, or at least a familiarity with religion and spirituality. Whilst it is envisioned that the Fellow will be based in Aberdeen, this is negotiable.

Individuals appointed as a Research Assistant will be paid at the appropriate point on the Grade 5 scale, £32,546 - £36,130 per annum, pro rata and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.

Individuals appointed as a Research Fellow will be paid at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 scale, £38,249 per annum, pro rata.
