We are seeking to recruit a Research Assistant for 6 months to support a research programme in the Flashman lab, Department of Biology, University of Oxford. The project aims to engineer Plant Cysteine Oxidase enzymes in order to improve submergence tolerance in crops.
The post-holder will be required to express and purify recombinant proteins, conduct detailed enzyme kinetic assays and data analysis, transform and cultivate Arabidopsis thaliana plants and contribute to submergence tolerance experiments and analysis. Applicants should possess experience in most or all of the relevant techniques in order to work independently and to be able to demonstrate techniques to other lab members. Applicants should also be able to demonstrate a knowledge of, and interest in, plant molecular responses to submergence-induced hypoxia. They should hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline, with substantial experience in an academic research laboratory setting.
