Aon are currently recruiting a Marine & Energy Composite Broker to join our team in London.
As a member of the Marine & Energy Composite team you will support Account Executives (AE’s) and senior members of the team to execute reinsurance transactions and proactively manage client and market specific projects throughout the lifecycle of engagement.

What The Day Will Look Like
Assist Account Executives and senior team members with reinsurance transactions and client projects.
- Handling client and market engagement throughout the reinsurance placement process and during the life-cycle of engagement.
- Crafting and delivering new reinsurance opportunities and growing revenue with existing clients.
- Playing an active role in Client teams and project groups to help deliver strategic growth initiatives, responses to competitive tenders and reinsurance placements
Key Accountabilities
You will assist client teams and account executives in developing Aon’s position in the market by:
- Working closely with account executives to proactively manage the renewal process and successfully transact a reinsurance placement including
– Support the team with P&I placements, leading negotiations with specific clients and markets
– Supporting account executives in advising clients on placement design, available coverage and capacity, likely pricing, potential coverage improvements and market progress.
– Helping to identify appropriate channels for risk placement based on clients’ market security guidelines and other requirements, exerting influence on the market in order to secure the best deals.
– Negotiating terms and conditions of placements with the market
– Working on and providing supporting analysis and research required to develop and deliver market presentations.
- Play an active role in promoting Aon’s market presence to clients, prospects and markets.
– Cultivating relationships with reinsurers and the reinsurance market including individual underwriters.
– Developing deeper relationships across the P&I and wider M&E reinsurance client base.
– Facilitating relationships between clients, Aon and reinsurers
Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Specific Protection and Indemnity knowledge, including knowledge of the Clubs and relevant contract wordings including how underwriting of insurance and reinsurance related risks occurs
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of appropriate (re)insurance broking, technical and analytical or underwriting experience including project and account management experience.
- Strong negotiation skills
- Inspires commitment and action in others (both internally and externally) through strong communication skills
- Considers the underwriter’s perspective in order to adapt approach
- Invests time and resource in Research & Development to find new products/solutions to meet clients’ needs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Education/Professional Qualifications
Education: 2:1 degree desirable
Professional: Progress towards Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII) and / or insurance or reinsurance specific education desirable.
