Summary
Receipts and Distributions at the Royal Derby Hospital are looking to recruit 2 roster relief Porters to support the operations of the department and provide sickness and holiday cover. The positions are for 15 hours (7.5 hours for 2 days) a week, with additional shifts available based on service requirements.
About us: We are a small dynamic team who provide Receipt and Distribution of stock from NHS Supply Chain and Couriers across the Royal Derby Hospital. We receive between 200-400 courier parcels daily including Palletised deliveries and upwards of 60 cages of stock from NHS Supply Chain each morning. Our Porters cover a lot of ground each day, so the positions are ideal for people who like to keep moving and keep busy.
Responsibilities:
- Sorting and Tugging of NHS Supply Chain cages from stores to the basement
- Delivery of NHS Supply Chain cages from basement to receiving areas
- Receiving Courier Deliveries into the Hospital, processing them and creating tracking labels using our Delivery POD system
- Sorting processed parcels into delivery cages for geographic areas of the Hospital
- Delivery of parcels using cages to receiving areas, recording delivery using PDA to create a proof of delivery
- Collection of empty cages from hospital corridors for return to NHS Supply Chain
- Delivery of pallets received into the Trust using manual and electric pallet trucks
Requirements:
Essential:
- Good interpersonal skills both in person and on a phone
- Proficient with computers and data inputting
- Detail and process focussed
- Ability to work independently and use own initiative to plan deliveries
- Manual Handling knowledge
Desirable:
- UK Drivers licence
- Previous experience in a delivery environment
