Quarry Operative
Burlington Slate Ltd is seeking a motivated, passionate individual to join our team as a Full-Time Quarry Operative. In this role, the Operative will be responsible for assisting the Deputy Quarry Manager with various tasks for safely extracting slate from the quarry. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience across all areas of quarry operations, including drilling, wire sawing, shotfiring, and plant operation.
We are looking for someone who thrives in a team environment but can also take the initiative to solve problems and ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
A strong commitment to safety and adherence to company procedures is essential for this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Willing to work safely in challenging conditions
- Able to self- motivate and to work as a team with others
- Use of specialist quarrying equipment and plant machinery
- Experience desirable but full training will be given
The ideal candidate should be:
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Flexible and willing to travel between our various quarry sites as required
This is an exciting opportunity to develop a broad skill set in quarry operations within a supportive and safety-focused team.
£12.94 per hour
40 hours per week:
Between 1st April - 30th September 6am – 4:45pm Monday to Thursday
Between 1st October - 31st March 7am-4:30pm Monday to Thursday & 7am-12:15pm Friday
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Must be able to operate company vehicles as well as operate equipment in the warehouse.
- Able to work in all weather conditions and in all types of terrain
