Overview:

Quality Lead – London and Kent Prisons

At Change Grow Live, our people are the heart of everything we do. Together, we are learning, developing, and growing — creating a supportive space where future leaders and talent emerge to deliver on our mission. Here, everyone feels a sense of belonging. Every voice matters. We foster inclusive, open, and transparent cultures where we live our values — and where people can thrive.

As part of this mission, we are excited to offer a new opportunity for a Quality Lead to join our dynamic prison healthcare teams across London and Kent.

About our Prison Services in Kent

Change Grow Live is proud to deliver high-quality, person-centred services in a number of Kent prisons, including HMP Elmley, Swaleside, Stanford Hill, Rochester, Maidstone, and East Sutton Park. Our teams work in close partnership with NHS England, Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), and a range of local stakeholders to provide integrated substance misuse and recovery services that support people to make meaningful change — both inside prison and as they prepare for release. Our approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and rooted in hope. The Quality Lead role is key to helping us ensure our services are consistently safe, effective, responsive, and aligned with our values.

About the role

This is a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in how we deliver and improve care across our services in Kent prisons, including HMP Wandsworth, Isis, Elmley, Swaleside, Stanford Hill, Rochester, Cookham Wood, Maidstone, and East Sutton Park.
As Quality Lead, you’ll play a key part in driving excellence. You will:
  • Lead and coordinate quality assurance activity, including service audits, observed practice reviews, and compliance monitoring.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and oversee serious untoward incident (SUI) reviews, ensuring timely reporting and clear learning outcomes.
  • Support teams through coaching, mentoring, and the delivery of training and reflective workshops.
  • Act as a critical friend, working alongside managers and frontline staff to embed a culture of continuous improvement and shared accountability.
  • Be a Designated Safeguarding Lead across the region. Ensuring that safeguarding, risk management, and CQC-related standards are upheld, and that learning is embedded across services.
  • Work collaboratively across the regional management team, sharing insight and driving service development based on evidence and impact.
Base: One of six Kent prisons, with regular travel across the London and Kent region
Full-time: 37.5 hours per week
Fixed-Term Contract: 18 months
  • Salary: £39,891.91 – £44,471.72 (dependent on experience)
  • please note: Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities:

We thrive by recruiting for success, recognising and rewarding effort. We are safe, healthy, agile, and flexible.

About you

You’ll be someone who genuinely cares about doing things well, leading by example, and bringing others on the journey with you. We’re looking for someone who is both strategically minded and grounded in practice — someone who can translate quality frameworks into meaningful, real-world improvements for staff and service users.
You’ll bring:
  • Significant experience in social care, health, or the substance use field — ideally with experience of working in, or alongside, custodial services.
  • Deep understanding of quality improvement methodology, assurance frameworks, and regulatory environments such as CQC, HMPPS, and NHS England.
  • Confidence in using data to support decision-making, identify trends, and measure progress.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills — able to coach, guide, and influence others positively, even during periods of change.
  • A clear commitment to safeguarding and a strong grasp of policies that protect both adults and young people at risk.
  • Experience of designing and delivering training, reflective practice sessions, and embedding learning across teams.
  • The ability to lead investigations into incidents and complaints with professionalism and integrity.
  • Strong organisation skills, with the ability to manage your own time, priorities, and regional travel.
Above all, we’re looking for someone who shares our values of being open, compassionate, and bold — and who believes in the power of second chances.
