Property Maintenance Operative – Full-Time
Salary: £30,000 – £45,000 per year (depending on experience)
Location: Leicester (travel between properties required)
About the Role:
We’re looking for a reliable and skilled Property Maintenance Operative to join our growing in-house team. This is a varied and practical role focused on keeping our residential rental properties in excellent condition. You’ll handle a wide range of repairs and maintenance tasks yourself, and act as the key link between the office, tenants, and any external contractors when needed.
You’ll be responsible for delivering a fast, tidy and professional service — often working independently, with support from our property management team. This is a long-term role for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys solving problems on the spot.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out general maintenance, basic plumbing, electrical, painting, joinery, and decorating tasks
- Respond to reported issues in a timely manner (e.g. leaks, locks, fittings, minor faults)
- Conduct regular inspections and identify works needed
- Communicate clearly with the office and tenants regarding progress and appointments
- Occasionally supervise external contractors on larger works
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicle (if provided) in good order
- Record and report completed jobs and issues accurately
Requirements:
- Proven hands-on experience in general property maintenance
- Broad skills across basic trades (e.g. plumbing, electrics, decorating, carpentry)
- Comfortable working alone and managing your own time
- Good communication and a professional manner with tenants
- Full UK driving licence and own tools (vehicle may be provided or allowance given)
- Flexibility to work across sites throughout Leicester
Hours:
- Full-time: approx. 40 hours per week
- Monday to Friday, with flexibility for occasional urgent call-outs
- Overtime or weekend work by agreement (extra pay or time off in lieu)
