What are we looking for


We have an opportunity for a Project Controller, reporting to the Projects Director the role is responsible for managing the overall project schedule and controlling project costs, ensuring that expenditures are in line with the project budget. This role involves preparing cost reports, analysing financial performance in conjunction with the project plan, and advising project managers and stakeholders on cost management strategies.


The Project Controller will work closely with the finance and project management teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.


You will support the project by participating in internal and external cost and schedule reviews, performing cost tracking and reconciliation. In addition, this position conducts regular project risk register reviews and updating. Coordinating the overall project control activities of any size/complexity, including Turnkey and lump sum projects, in full compliance with the contractual requirements.


Responsibilities


  • You will collaborate with the project team to develop project controls strategies and plans that align with project objectives and contract requirements.
  • In this role you will monitor, analyse, and report on project progress, cost performance and risk exposure. Collaborate with the project manager to develop plans to address areas of concern and achieve project objectives.
  • You will ensure the accuracy, completeness and consistency of project controls data and information.
  • Implement quality assurance processes to achieve reliable and consistent project outcomes.
  • You will develop and maintain project schedules as well as collaborate with project team members to identify project milestones and critical path analysis.
  • Monitor project costs against budget and forecast. Collaborate with project managers to develop cost estimates, identify cost variances and develop corrective action plans.
  • Manage change order management processes to ensure changes are accurately documented and incorporated into project plans and cost estimates.
  • Monitor and verify man-hour consumption against deliverables completed and identify changes that impact the required budget.
  • Identifies schedule considerations and problems resulting from inter-discipline or functional restraints and interfaces.
  • Monitors and reports critical path and schedule performance of the total project.
  • Recommends alternatives for schedule improvement to the project team for discussion and/or decision.

About You


Knowledge and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Cost Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost control or project controls within the engineering and construction industry
  • Hands on experience in project control in an EPC environment preferred and certified PMP – Project Management Professional and / or AACE – Certified Cost Engineer preferred
  • Proficiency in cost control software applications e.g. Primavera P6, MSP, SAP
  • Excellent knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Power BI, SAP, Oracle)
  • Familiarity with cost control methodologies such as earned value management (EVM)
