Project Assistant
Location: St Elizabeth’s Centre, Much Hadham, Hertfordshire

Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday (9am–5pm)
Salary: £24,451.80 – £24,884.57 per annum

Create. Support. Inspire potential.

About St Elizabeth’s Centre

Set in 60 acres of beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, St Elizabeth’s is a specialist charity supporting children, young people, and adults with complex epilepsy and learning disabilities. Through our unique mix of education, care, health, and therapy, we empower individuals to thrive and live life to the full.

Our values — aspirational, collaborative, joyful, and compassionate — shape everything we do.

Now we’re looking for a creative, hands-on Project Assistant to support our innovative Social Enterprise and Vocational Projects.

About the Role

As a Project Assistant, you’ll help deliver meaningful, skill-building activities through one of our unique enterprise projects, such as horticulture, arts and crafts, or jewellery making. Whether it’s helping someone plant their first seed, design a piece of artwork, or sell their handmade creations, your role is about nurturing confidence and independence in a supportive and inclusive space.

You’ll work alongside our Lead Instructor to plan and deliver creative sessions tailored to each participant’s needs — and celebrate their achievements every step of the way.

What You’ll Do:

  • Support individuals 1:1 and in small groups, helping them develop practical skills and confidence
  • Assist in planning and running engaging, hands-on sessions in your area of interest (e.g. gardening, jewellery, or art)
  • Help maintain a safe, well-organised and welcoming environment
  • Provide personal care in line with individual needs (full training provided)
  • Prepare stock, support displays, and attend occasional events to promote and sell participants’ work
  • Accurately record progress and achievements using quality assurance tools
  • Collaborate with colleagues, families, carers and funders to deliver a high-quality service

About You

You’re creative, patient, and motivated by helping others grow. You’ll enjoy rolling up your sleeves and getting involved in a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about supporting individuals with learning disabilities
  • Experienced (professionally or personally) in creative or practical fields like gardening, crafts, or jewellery
  • A confident communicator, able to adapt to different needs and abilities
  • Organised, proactive and a team player
  • Comfortable supporting personal care needs
  • Willing to complete relevant training, including safeguarding and medication administration

Why Work for St Elizabeth’s?

At St Elizabeth’s, you’ll join a caring, collaborative team where your creativity and compassion will make a lasting impact. We offer:

  • Monday to Friday working pattern – no evenings or weekends!
  • Free on-site parking and discounted meals in our canteen
  • Comprehensive training, development, and career progression
  • Enhanced DBS paid for by us
  • Recommend a Friend bonus of up to £500 (T&Cs apply)
  • A beautiful, peaceful countryside setting — a workplace like no other
  • Opportunities to grow across education, care, therapy, and vocational services

How to Apply

Visit our website to complete an application form and upload your CV or Click Apply Now on Indeed!. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so don’t wait too long — we may close the advert early if we receive enough strong interest.

Please note: We are not located on a public transport route, so access to transport is useful.

Inclusion & Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All roles are subject to enhanced DBS clearance and satisfactory references.

We’re proud to be a Disability Confident Employer and recognised as an Investor in People. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and will provide reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process.

Unlock creativity. Build futures. Be part of something special.
