Role Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Principal, Unsecured Consumer Debt position with a leading financial services trade body. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional with expertise in unsecured consumer credit and a strong background in financial services.

The post holder will have practical experience of operating in a highly regulated financial services sector and an understanding of the legislation and regulation surrounding debt solutions and the landscape across unsecured credit, particularly as it pertains to loans, overdrafts and credit cards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain strong working relationships with colleagues in the credit team and other policy areas within the organization.
  • Collaborate closely with the Personal Finance team and provide leadership, consultancy, and secretariat support to the Credit PSB and working committees.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive network within the UK credit industry, including members, HMT, regulators, debt advisors, credit bureaus, and credit data companies.

Required Knowledge and Expertise:

  • In-depth understanding of the financial services environment, particularly in unsecured consumer credit, debt, credit cards, loans, collections, and recoveries.
  • Experience in financial trade bodies, financial services, or banking would be advantageous.

Key Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
  • Experience in operational processes, compliance, and policy work, particularly in unsecured consumer credit, credit cards, loans, and debt.
  • Ability to lead as a subject matter expert and present credibly to high-level governance committees.
  • Strong presentation and problem-solving skills.
