Brief Description


What will you be doing?

We are looking for a Principal Technical Officer to lead and coordinate the delivery of projects undertaken by the Works Delivery Track Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of track infrastructure projects.


About the role (External)


Key Accountabilities:

1. Lead the technical delivery of track related projects

2. Plan, coordinate and oversee the production of technical paperwork and analyse data to ensure compliance with relevant standards.

3. Translate technical standards and project requirements into actionable delivery plans

4. Use data-driven insights to improve delivery efficiency, productivity, and quality.

5. Carry out work safely and in accordance with the safe systems of work procedures, method statements, plans and other instructions.

6. Work closely with delivery managers and project engineers to resolve technical challenges

7. Adhere to company policies and procedures.

8. Lead and supervise technical tasks, survey and design work on site

9. Manage information to update systems, databases and records.

10. Coach, mentor, and develop your technical team to strengthen delivery capability.

11. Act as the primary point of contact for technical delivery matters within the Works Delivery Track Team


Experience, skills, knowledge and competencies:

1. Proven experience in delivering track construction or infrastructure projects.

2. Strong ability to interpret and apply technical standards to delivery.

3. Proficiency in IT systems, particularly Excel, and data analysis tools.

4. Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on practical delivery solutions

5. Effective communicator with the ability to influence and lead others

6. In-depth knowledge of track construction methods, design, and delivery standards.

7. Strong commitment to safe working behaviours and promoting a safety-first culture.

8. Ability to plan, prioritise, and manage multiple delivery activities.

9. Proven experience in developing and supporting the growth of technical staff.

10. Hold and retain competencies required for the role.

11. Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need.


Desirable

1. Knowledge of track engineering standards and track renewal delivery processes.

2. Experience working in a rail or infrastructure project environment.

3. Trimble or 3D surveying techniques

4. L1, L2 and L3 stressor


Salary: Maintenance T&Cs
