Part Time, Fixed Term - Research

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled part time (0.75 fte) Research Assistant to join the Oxford School of Nursing and Midwifery. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an evaluation of how user-friendly and acceptable an AI-powered dashboard is among registered nurses (RNs) caring for patients having colorectal surgery. This is a six-month multisite study funded by the AI Nurses Network.
Working closely with Dr Marion Waite and her team, you will support the recruitment of participants, as well as multi-site and multi-method data collection in person at specific NHS sites. This will involve qualitative data analysis using NVIVO, data cleaning, statistical analysis, and the dissemination of findings through reports and presentations.
Main duties:
  • Work closely with Dr Waite and team on the ‘Evaluating the Usability and Acceptability of a Prototype AI-Powered Recovery Pathway Progress Dashboard (AI-ERPP Dashboard) for Tracking Postoperative Recovery by Registered Nurses in an Elective Colorectal Surgical Ward: A Multi-centre Study.’
  • Responsibility for planning and carrying out empirical l work, keeping accurate laboratory notebooks, data analysis & interpretation and report writing
  • Assist in recruiting participants from NHS sites.
  • Collect and analyse qualitative and observational data
  • Collect, clean, and analyse quantitative research data using statistical software.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports and presentations.
  • Assist with the preparation of papers for publication and make presentations at meetings and/or conferences
  • Conduct literature searches and reviews
  • Attend conferences/workshops and present papers as required
You Should Have:
  • PhD or near completion of a doctoral degree in a relevant subject
  • Recent experience in research within higher education or applied health
  • Intermediate level skills in qualitative interviewing, focus group techniques and observation of participants
  • Intermediate-level skills in statistical analysis, including:
  • - Data collection and cleaning
  • - Inferential statistical techniques
  • - Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, or similar)
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and flexibility
