Play Worker – Afterschool & Holiday Hours
Location: Uckfield (just off the High Street)
Hours: 7 hours/week during term time (afterschool) + 21 hours/week during school holidays (negotiable)
No weekends or bank holidays
Salary: £12.21 per hour

About Us
At the Children’s Respite Trust, we believe no family should face the challenges of caring for a child with a disability alone. We offer vital respite services at our Uckfield Centre and across Sussex, providing care and fun activities for children with a range of needs.
About the Role
As a Play Worker, you'll help create a safe, supportive environment for children, supporting their development and giving their families valuable respite.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support engaging play activities that foster physical, emotional, and social growth
- Ensure children’s safety and wellbeing at all times
- Support inclusive participation for children with varying disabilities
- Help plan and organise activities tailored to individual interests
- Communicate effectively with parents and team members
What We’re Looking For
- Energetic, positive team player who enjoys working with children aged 4–18
- Experience with SEND is desirable but not essential—training provided
- Comfortable planning and adapting activities to meet children's needs
- Responsible, compassionate, and committed to child welfare
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and basic IT skills
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. education, childcare) are a plus but not essential
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 or above (or willingness to work toward equivalent)
