Physiotherapy Support Worker

NHS Scotland
£28,011 - £30,230 a year
Dunfermline, Scotland
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced therapy support worker to join our Child Health Physiotherapy service in NHS Fife. The service has bases in Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline and Randolph Weymss Memorial Hospital Buckhaven and you will support children and their families in various locations across Fife.

Your role will be to support the Children & Young Peoples Physiotherapists in the delivery of treatment to individuals and groups of children with a wide variety of health conditions and Physiotherapy needs. This will include being involved in Fife Loves Life Program to encourage and support an active family lifestyle. You will work in a variety of community based settings e.g. clinics, schools, leisure centres, swimming pools and homes and with a number of different agencies to support the child/young person. An ability to engage with children in a fun and age appropriate manner will be essential to this role therefore previous experience working with children and young people is expected.

Previous experience as a Therapy Support worker or a similar role in Education/social care is essential, and skills in exercise, fitness and health promotion would be desirable. An understanding of the role of physiotherapy in child health is also desirable. Effective communication, organisational, IT and time management skills are required, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

As this is a Fife-wide service, the ability to travel throughout Fife during the working day is essential to this post. You will receive regular support and guidance from specialist physiotherapists within the team to develop your skills. The Physiotherapy Service is committed to continuous professional development, mentoring and peer review, in service training and support for agreed external or post graduate training.

If you would like to discuss these opportunities informally then please contact Gillian Bell, Operational Lead Physiotherapist on [email protected], we would be delighted to hear from you.

To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.

As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through a number of routes including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre-settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the GOV.UK website here.

For specific types of post, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa. However, this is only possible if the employer is a licenced Sponsor, and if the post does not fall below the current minimum salary threshold or ‘going rate’. Further information on these criteria can be found here.

It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored BEFORE submitting your application form.

We offer flexible working and family-friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.
