Highbury Hospital have exciting vacancies in the role of Peer Support Worker. These are on Rowan 1 and Redwood 1 (male), Redwood 2 (female) and Willows (male PICU).

As a Peer Support Worker you will use your experiences to offer understanding, support in linking with appropriate services/agencies, promote choice and to inspire hope and future opportunities to our inpatients.

As a Peer Support Worker, you will act as a recovery champion within the team and an ambassador of recovery for the Trust with external agencies and partner organisations. You will be supported, and are expected, to invest in your own personal and professional development as well as supporting ongoing development of peer roles in the Trust.

The value of lived experience in supporting this population of people is understood as an integral part of this service and huge value this adds to the support offered.

As a Peer Support Worker you will use your experiences to offer understanding, support in linking with appropriate services/agencies, promote choice and to inspire hope and future opportunities. The role will include, offering support to carers (including friends and relatives) and their supporters in the community by enabling and assisting them to meet daily health, social care and well-being needs, in line with support plans and facilitating engagement with mainstream services. All work will be carried out under the supervision of the Team Manager

To follow the policies of the ward environment and the peer support worker and bands 2-4 codes of conduct.

To contribute to the development of peer support across the Trust by attending peer support development days and providing honest reflections and feedback on the peer support worker role where appropriate.

The duties and responsibilities of the post will be undertaken in accordance with the policies and procedures and practices of Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. It is the post holder’s responsibility to keep up to date with these policies and other documents

The peer support worker will act as a recovery champion within the team and an ambassador of recovery for the Trust with external agencies and partner organisations. Peer workers will also be expected to invest in their own personal and professional development as well as supporting ongoing development of peer roles in the Trust.
The peer support worker will work as part of the multidisciplinary inpatient team, offering support to people who have been admitted onto the ward

Please note this post does not meet skill level required for a Skilled worker visa.

Applicants requiring a Skilled Worker visa will usually need to be in a role which is at Band 3 or above, however please note not all Band 3 roles are capable of sponsorship. Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.
