Purpose of role:
To transport service users safely and in comfort in accordance with the daily schedule or as instructed by officers within Transport Services. Ensure that all duties undertaken are in accordance with Council/Departmental policies, procedures, standards or statutory requirements, including equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice.
The role involves working as a Passenger Attendant or Driver, collecting passengers from their home and transporting them to school/day care centres, with the reverse journey in the afternoon.
We are seeking an individual who has experience of working with children and young people, is enthusiastic, caring and passionate about helping others. The successful applicant will need to flexible in their approach to working hours as this is a split shift post. The successful applicant needs to be available for work between 06.45-10.30 and 13.30-18.00 (term time only).
The role can be physically demanding at times, including manoeuvring/clamping wheelchairs and assisting passengers who may have need for physical support.
A category D1 licence is required for this role. However, Category B licence holders (who have had this entitlement for more than 2 years) may also apply as the Council will provide training where a D1 licence is not held.
Drivers must be over the age of 21.
A medical exam will be required prior to appointment.

Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
