Gruffs is a modern grooming salon offering professional pet styling in a calm, well-designed space where dog welfare and enjoyment come first. I’m currently looking for an experienced, qualified dog groomer to join on a part-time basis — with the potential to grow into a fuller role over time.
About Gruffs
Gruffs is a commercial salon with a difference. Dogs are treated as individuals, and their emotional wellbeing is considered just as important as the quality of their groom. The approach is holistic — from a calm reception and gentle greetings to spacious, crate-free facilities and enrichment-based techniques that support a positive experience. Appointments are carefully timed to allow for calm, efficient grooms — without rushing — and there’s a strong emphasis on high grooming standards alongside kind, structured handling.
The business is only two years old but growing quickly, with a large and loyal client base built primarily through word of mouth and personal recommendations. It's an exciting time to join and help shape the next stage of Gruffs’ journey.
What’s Offered
- A peaceful, purpose-designed space, built for dog welfare and groomer wellbeing
- Adjustable bath and tables, saddle stools, fatigue mats, and PPE to support your physical health
- Calm, well-paced appointments — no crates or kennel dryers, and a structured pace that prioritises the dog’s comfort
- High-quality products and tools provided
- The opportunity to shape your role as the salon grows, in a supportive and respectful setting
- A small, friendly team where your input and experience are genuinely valued
- Flexible part-time hours, with the potential to grow into a fuller role
- Kind, loyal clients who appreciate thoughtful service
- Pay open for discussion based on experience and skill level
- An annual chiropractor appointment (or equivalent wellness contribution) to support your wellbeing
What the Role Entails
- Provide professional grooming services, including bathing, styling, trimming, and nail care
- Ensure each dog’s comfort and safety throughout the grooming process
- Observe and report any visible skin, coat, or behavioural concerns to the owner in a kind, informative manner
- Maintain a clean, hygienic, and well-organised grooming space
- Offer a warm, helpful experience for clients and communicate clearly about their dog’s needs
- Assist with the safe handling and lifting of large dogs and equipment when needed
What I’m Looking For
- Formal qualification (City & Guilds, iPet or equivalent)
- Skilled in drying, clipping, scissoring, and nail trimming
- Confident with a variety of dogs, especially nervous and older dogs
- Able to read dog body language and adapt calmly
- Committed to delivering quality grooms in a calm, ethical, and structured way
- Friendly, professional client communication
- A reliable team player who enjoys working independently too
- Experience in a similar setting is beneficial but not required
