PACKING ASSISTANT (THREE-TIER PAY SYSTEM)
Please Note: This is a temporary role with opportunity to become permanent. Initial contract will be from July - 20 Dec 2025. This role may suit someone on their GAP year before travelling.

WHO ARE WE?
We are a small, friendly chocolate company based in Bruton, Somerset, dedicated to producing high-quality, handcrafted chocolates. We are looking for three new team members to join our packing team and help ensure our products are beautifully presented and efficiently packed.
As a luxury brand, attention to detail is paramount. The ability to work efficiently and meet daily packing targets is essential. Our chocolate factory is a fast-paced, high-output workplace, so team members must balance precision with speed to meet our quality and efficiency standards. Full training is provided-no experience necessary!
WORKING HOURS:
Monday - Thursday, 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM (37.5 hours per week, including a half-hour unpaid lunch
break)
THREE-TIER PAY SYSTEM
We believe in rewarding growth and responsibility within our team. Our structured three-tier system allows employees to progress as they develop new skills and take on additional responsibilities.
Promotions through the tiers will be assessed and awarded by our Head Chocolatier/Factory Manager based on good performance. While a realistic time frame to reach Tier 3 is 12 months, candidates who demonstrate exceptional performance can progress much faster.TIER 1 - ENTRY LEVEL (£12.50 PER HOUR)
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Good timekeeping and reliability
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- Learning the basics of packing, handling chocolate products with care, and meeting daily targets
TIER 2 - INCREASED RESPONSIBILITY (£13.00 PER HOUR)
- Taking ownership of key packing tasks, including:
- Printing and applying date labels
- Creating and preparing product labels
- Organizing and preparing packaging materials in advance
- Supporting team efficiency by anticipating needs and keeping workflow smooth
TIER 3 - LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT SUPPORT (£13.50 PER HOUR)
- Running the packing section in the absence of the Packing Manager
- Completing all necessary paperwork accurately
- Identifying and addressing errors or production issues
- Going above and beyond to support company managers and improve operational efficiency
EXAMPLES OF PACKING TASKS:
- Packing chocolate bars into their bar sleeves
- Tagging bags of honeycomb
- Boxing truffles and selection boxes
- Ensuring all products meet quality standards before dispatch
