The team…
The Enablement and Independence service supports people with disabilities (learning disabilities, physical disabilities, or mental health conditions) to be influential in their local communities through citizenship, employment, enterprise, and volunteering opportunities. With a strong focus on the abilities of the individual and not their disabilities, we recognise the importance of supporting individuals to obtain their maximum potential and achieve the same life outcomes as those of people without disabilities.
About the roles….
Supported Living Scheme - Support Worker.
Our Support Living Schemes provide support and enable adults with a learning disability to live successfully in the home and community of their choice; to ensure they have choice and control about where and who they live with, and to provide high quality support to promote independence.
This service supports and promotes all relevant quality standards as well as adhering to the Care Quality Commission regulations.
You will be required to carry out a range of duties including supporting tenants with tasks that promote their independence, maximise their wellbeing and maintain their dignity. This may include undertaking personal care tasks.
You will also support tenants to complete household tasks; including planning, preparation and serving of meals and general living skills, ensuring that individuals understand the need for safety and security of the home.
You must have knowledge of current legislation including the Care Act 2014, Equality Act 2010, Mental Capacity Act and related Safeguarding Adults policy and practice. Knowledge of the key issues in relation to working with people with learning disabilities is essential, as is knowledge of independent supported living.
You must have an NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care and have experience of working with people who have a learning disability, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
You will be required to develop and maintain a range of records, including individual care plans and health and safety records. Therefore, effective written, verbal, and electronic communications skills are required.
You will work to a rota which will include working evenings and weekends (including Bank Holidays) and additional sleep in duties.
